A Quick Look Ahead to 2015

Wow, 2014 has gone by fast.  It seems like I was just gearing up for the 2014 legislative session, and here we are already prepping and planning for the 2015 session.  Time flies!  This year, we are going to be working on the following:

  • CPR requirement in Schools – this will be the year that we accomplish this goal!  The AHA/ASA believes every child in Arizona should leave school knowing how to save a life in the event of a cardiac emergency using Hands-On CPR techniques.  It takes less than 20 minutes to learn, less time than the average school fund raiser pep rally.  Click here to see Hands-On CPR in action.
  • Stroke Systems of Care – As you may know stroke is the 4th leading cause of death and a leading cause of disability among Americans. The AHA/ASA aims to improve the stroke care infrastructure by establishing three levels of stroke system of care centers: primary, comprehensive stroke centers and Acute Stroke Ready Hospitals.  Currently Arizona only recognizes Primary Stroke Centers. We want Arizona to be able to recognize each of these coordinated systems of care to improve patient outcomes. Please click here for more information.

Legislative Session starts on January 12, 2015 and things will move quickly.  Before you know it, Arizona Lobby Day, February 5, 2015 will be upon us.  Watch for the save the date for that event, and please contact me if you have any questions.

Finally, I would like to with you and yours a Happy Holiday and Very Joyous New Year!
