Millions of people are counting on the American Heart Association for science-based information, health resources, community programs and patient support. We are continuing our mission-critical work in these challenging times and we know that people with cardiovascular diseases are more likely to be seriously impacted by the virus than others.
For the 2021 South Dakota legislative session, we will be focusing heavily on Stroke Policy, with an emphasis on Stroke Designation Facilities. Strokes don't discriminate. They can happen to anyone at any age - and about one in four people worldwide will have one in their lifetime. The good news? Stroke is preventable, treatable and beatable. Additionally, we will be discussing Medicaid Expansion and how that can take an impact across the state of South Dakota. This way we can work to ensure that everyone has access to healthcare when they need it.
