2013 Session is Fast Approaching

Hard to believe it’s December!  The Holidays are here and that means legislative session is right around the corner!

Last week was committee days in Olympia. This is a time when legislators convene at the Capitol, post-election to meet and get prepped for the coming year.  I, like many lobbyists, use this opportunity to get some face to face time with the members and talk to them about our priorities.  It was a great week!  I had a number of meetings to talk about our work, firmed up support with our bill sponsors and identified some new champions.  But the real highlight was on Thursday!

Volunteers Karen and Julia joined Lindsay and me at the Capitol to promote CPR in Schools. Karen and Julia dropped off a Washington apple and postcard describing the benefits of CPR training in schools with each legislator. They were even able to participate in an impromptu meeting with Representative Cathy Dahlquist!  While we have a lot of work ahead, weeks like this help me know we’re on the right track.  I hope you’ll join us to advocate for life-saving public policy.  If you’re new to advocacy our Lobby Day on January 30th is a great chance to learn and meet your legislators.  You can RSVP on this site and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
